Melbourne international television festival
Television when compared to film usually comes close second; there are countless film festivals around the world celebrating the different genres of film. However there are only handfuls of festivals celebrating television none of which are held in Australia. Television festivals, much like their film counterpart, allow new comers to present their work to the public and industry professionals, it also enables a learning and inspirational environment for those who appreciate television as more than just a pastime. So for this project I’d like to create the brand identity for a Television Festival held here in Melbourne.
What makes a festival unique is that the brand identity changes from year to year. The logo can change from year to year and not much emphasis is placed upon the logo but more on the overall brand of the festival and it’s theme.
There’s so much more to branding than just a logo and a couple of posters. So many components need to work together, and the applications rely on each other for the identity to be effective and work seamlessly. A lot of the public see that the logo is be all and all but we live in a time where the first thing a person would see is probably a website, a mobile app icon, an advertisement their social media feed, an instagram video. Which is why brand identity is a field of design that can evolve along with technology.
